Steel Design & Fabrication
OUR FABRICATION SHOP FOCUSES ON STEEL SOLUTIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL AND LIGHT COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS, SUPPORTED BY AN EXPERIENCED AND CREATIVE ENGINEERING AND DRAFTING DEPARTMENT
We began supplying steel beams and columns with our lumber packages in the 1980’s, using only a torch to burn holes and cut beams to length. Since then, we have invested in technology, improved our capabilities, and expanded our inventory as the needs and complexity of our customers’ projects have evolved. Today, not only are we are able to supply a wide range of structural shapes including wide-flange beams, tubes, pipe, angles, and flat plate; we also can provide complex fabrication of steel connections, rebar cutting and bending, on-site welding, or even structural engineering to determine what is appropriate for your project.
Beyond structural steel, we also fabricate architectural elements like decorative steel handrails, balcony railings, decorative hangers and plates for timber connections. Most structural steel leaves our yard with a coat of primer applied, but we can supply your project in other finishes too, including: bare, painted, powder-coated, or hot-dip galvanized. We can work from your engineer or architect’s plans or maybe even a quick sketch on a napkin. Our design and engineering staff is always available to provide quick and efficient solutions to the problems our customers face. And our fabrication shop is open 6 days a week so we can frequently provide next day service for small orders. Let us know how we can help you!
SELECTED WORK
FOUNDATION STEEL BUTLER, MD
In order to accommodate a basketball court in the basement, the project engineer designed large, 55′, w36x118 steel girder beams, with 6″ round, fixed columns. A network of smaller beams and I-joists ran over top, completing the complex floor system for this custom home.
CUSTOM HANDRAIL TOWSON, MD
The landscape architect approached us with a sketch of the railing he envisioned for this home in Towson. We designed and supplied the steel structure, including the composite pan decking. We fabricated and installed the railing after approved shop drawings.
FALLEN WARRIOR MEMORIAL UPPERCO, MD
The Fallen Warrior Memorial at Camp Fretterd was brought to us by a local architect. We used a combination of steel and gulams to accomplish the hexagonal shape with a two tier, dual pitch roof. We assisted in the installation with on-site welding services.
